Casterbridge MoonWalkers help the fight against Breast Cancer

By Matt Cheek — 13 May 2026

A crack-team of elite athletes from Casterbridge will be taking part in the London MoonWalk on 16th May, giving up ‘sleep’ for ‘steps’ to raise funds to help fight breast cancer!.

Lisa, Claude and Matt from Casterbridge along with Debbie, Lisa’s sister-in-law, will take on the overnight walking challenge across London. The MoonWalk is known for its unique mix of endurance, energy and spirit, bringing together thousands of participants in support of an important cause.

Whilst I don’t have breasts, roughly half the people I know do!

While the event is well known for its lively atmosphere, the motivation behind it is a serious one. Breast cancer continues to affect a significant number of women and knock on effects to friends and family members, and the team felt it was important to contribute in a meaningful way.

Matt commented “Whilst I don’t have breasts, roughly half the people I know do! Breast cancer is proper rubbish/devastating. The MoonWalk is an awesome way we can show support for a cause that touches so many lives.”

In the lead up to the event, the team has been “training” in their own way – swapping short cuts for longer walks, turning quick dog laps into proper outings, walking to the shops instead of driving, and taking the stairs wherever possible. Nothing too heroic, just a gradual increase in steps (and a growing appreciation for comfortable shoes).

MoonWalkers will walk through the night in what is expected to be a challenging but rewarding experience, raising funds that go towards vital support and research.
